Several Massacres
ALL EYES ON RAFAH TRENDS AS ISRAEL IGNORED ICJ'S RULING TO HALT ITS ATTACKS ON RAFAH
MORE THAN 95 PALESTINIANS HAVE BEEN KILLED WHILE 360 HAVE BEEN INJURED, AS A RESULT
Israel declared a ground invasion in Rafah, Gaza's "safe zone", revealed on May 7. The evacuations came as the Israeli military intensified its bombardment of the city. Tanks and planes pounded several areas and at least four houses in Rafah overnight, killing 20 Palestinians and wounding several others, according to Palestinian health officials.
On April 25, mass graves found in 2 hospitals in the Gaza Strip containing 392 bodies, including those of women, children and the elderly, showed signs of torture and executions. Ten of the bodies were found with bound hands while others still had medical tubes attached to them, indicating they may have been buried alive, said civil defence member Mohammed Mughier.
On April 23, the Israeli army carried out intense shelling overnight of the Gaza neighborhoods. Israel’s military has dropped 75,000 tonnes of explosives on the Gaza Strip, turning much of its civilian infrastructure to rubble. In total, the Israeli attacks have damaged or destroyed: 380,000 housing units, 412 schools and universities, 556 mosques, three churches, 206 archeological and heritage sites.
On April 17, Israel targeted a playground and busy market Maghazi refugee camp with at least 56 Palestinians killed
On April 2, seven aid workers, including foreign nationals, from the non-profit World Central Kitchen were killed in an Israeli military strike as they were delivering food to starving civilians in Gaza.
On March 15, 2024, Israel meticulously attacked an aid distribution point in northern Gaza. As a result, 20 people have been killed and 155 are currently wounded
On February 29, 2024, Israel deliberately massacred more than 100 unarmed people who were simply trying to get food from aid trucks. People had congregated on al-Rashid Street, where aid trucks carrying flour were believed to be on the way
In December of 2023, Israel committed mass murder by massacring entire residential blocks, resulting in over 1,000 people killed, wounded, or reported missing, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported. It marked the bloodiest day in the Gaza Strip since Israel began its genocide on 7 October

Death Toll and Diseases Increase
- On June 1st, the Health Ministry revealed that 36,379 people had reportedly been killed, including 4,959 women and 7,797 children

Weapons of Mass Destruction
- The term ‘dumb bombs’ refers to munitions that are not guided, but are free to fall and destroy wherever they land
- Somewhere between 40-45 percent of the munitions Israel has dropped on Gaza have been unguided, but these munitions are less accurate and carry a greater risk of inflicting civilian casualties
- Israel has been provided, by the U.S. other weapons such as bunker buster bombs (designed to penetrate hardened structures before exploding), Joint Direct Attack Munitions or JDAMs – a guidance kit that uses GPS to turn unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions, effectively making the dumb bombs “smart”, and white phosphorus (highly combustible, it can cause fires and smoke to spread quickly)
- Israel receives $3.8bn in U.S. aid annually where the U.S. has heavily supported Israel's economy over several decades (with trade between the two countries reaching nearly $50 billion annually)
- With an annual military budget exceeding $20 billion and access to some of the most advanced U.S. military hardware, Israel controls the skies and much of the sea around its territory, and it has superior cyber capabilities
- The IDF's annual budget of around $23.6 billion, as of 2023, surpasses the total military spending of Egypt, Iran, Lebanon and Jordan combined
- On April 1, Biden signed off on sending more bombs to Israel and these are bombs that ca “destroy entire blocks,” one senior administration official said of the MK84 bombs

Al-Shifa Hospital Attack
- On March 24, 2024, Israel forces seized Al-Shifa hospital where there were about 3,000 people inside seeking refuge
- Israelis admitted to executing 140 people inside the hospital, including paramedics, patients and wounded
- According to Jamila al-Hissi (who spent 6 days inside the besieged building), Israel forces raped, kidnapped, executed women and pulled dead bodies from under the rubble to unleash their dogs on them
- Israeli soldiers raped a pregnant woman where they ordered her to undress and beat her in front of her husband and children. They ordered the men to not close their eyes or they would be shot
- At this time, Tel Aviv imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to more than 2 million Palestinians living there
- On April 1, dozens of mutilated bodies have been found at al-Shifa Hospital after the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers following a two-week raid. Gaza’s largest medical facility has been left in ruins

Childhood in Gaza
- According to the ministry, around 72% of the Palestinian victims were women and children
- While the death toll rises, many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them
- Children in Gaza surviving the violence are enduring unspeakable horrors, including life-changing injuries, burns, disease, inadequate medical care, and losing their parents and other loved ones. They have been forced to flee violence, often repeatedly, with no safe place to go, and face the terror of an uncertain future. About 1,000 children in Gaza have lost one or both of their legs, many having them amputated without anesthetic, and will require a lifetime of medical care
- More than 10 children on average have lost one or both of their legs every day in Gaza since October 7, with many amputations performed without anesthesia
- According to the United Nations Children's Fund, Gaza is "the world's most dangerous place to be a child," as more than 13,000 Palestinian minors have been killed
- Almost all of Gaza's 1.2 million children need mental health and psychosocial support

The UN estimated that as of the start of May, the post-war reconstruction of Gaza would cost between 30 billion and 40 billion dollars.

Aid Interference
Aid trucks have been trying to get into Gaza for the residents however, it has been difficult due to the blockage of Israeli militas
On March 5, a 14 truck aid convoy was turned back by the Israeli military after a 3 hour wait at the Wadi Gaza checkpoint
The World Food Programme estimates that at least 300 trucks are needed to enter Gaza every day and distribute food to meet only the basic hunger needs. The UN agency has only managed to take nine convoys into northern Gaza since the start of the year, it said in a statement.
The quickest, most effective way to get aid into the territory is by road, but aid agencies say Israeli restrictions mean a fraction of what is needed is getting in
As of April 3, Israel continues to block the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from bringing food and other aid into northern Gaza, the aid agency said.

Hunger as a Weapon
Famine is imminent in northern Gaza where 70% of the population are already suffering with catastrophic levels of hunger
According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, all 2.2 million people in Gaza do not have enough food to eat, with half of the population on the brink of starvation and famine projected o arrive in the north "anytime between mid-March and May 2024."
90% of children under 2 years old and 95% of pregnant and breastfeeding women "face severe food poverty--meaning they have consumed 2 or less food in the previous day--and the food they do have access to is of the lowest nutritional value"
More children in Gaza have died in the past four months than the number of kids killed worldwide in four years of wars, UNRWA's chief says. This is the “highest number of people facing catastrophic hunger ever recorded… anywhere, anytime,” by the IPC, said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Israel is deliberately starving Palestinians, UN expert says. Hunger and severe malnutrition are widespread in the Gaza Strip, where about 2.2 million Palestinians are facing severe shortage from Israel destroying food supplies, and severely restricting the flow of food, medicines, and other humanitarian supplies

EXTREME TORTURE AND Humiliation

Arrested and Held
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor asserts that the vast majority of those arrested from within the Gaza Strip have been subjected to arbitrary detention without being charged or brought to justice, with no legal measures taken against them. Palestinian children are amongst the bulk arrested, with 500-700 children are put in Israeli military detention every year. Palestinian children are the only children in the world who are systemically prosecuted in military courts
As of June 2, at least 8, 985 Palestinians have been illegally and indefinitely been detained by Israeli forces in the West Bank since Oct. 7, according to Palestinian figures

South Africa Urgent Resubmission
Following the Rafah massacre, South Africa submitted an urgent request for additional measures under Article 75(1). However, the Court rejected the request, stating that the provisional measures that was issued in January were applicable and did not demand any additional measures.
